ANNOUNCING: Dr. Odette Cohen’s Retirement and the sunsetting of Son Light Medical 

Dear Son Light Medical Family,

It's been my honor to serve the Burlington County Region with quality medical care since 1989. Thank you for the trust you have given me and the entire Son Light Medical team over the years. 

I am writing today to announce my retirement. I founded the practice as a fulfillment of my dream to provide exceptional healthcare to the families in this community, and as much as I'd love to see Son Light continue on beyond me, it has proven to be an impossibility. 

Son Light Medical will close effective May 19, 2023. We will be available until that date for your urgent care. Your continuing wellness and health are priorities for us. It is important that you continue with appropriate medical care; therefore, you should establish contact with another physician as soon as possible. If you need assistance locating another physician, contact your health insurer or Virtua's Access Center at 888-847-8823. If you have not selected a new physician by the time the practice closes, you can obtain acute, critical, or emergency care by calling 911 or going to the emergency department at the nearest hospital. 

Your patient records will be available via Desert River Solutions, the custodian of these documents, and we encourage you to request your records immediately. You will be able to receive your records via email or postal mail free of charge for the next three months after which there will be a $25 fee. Flu season is here again. It is important, especially this year, to get your flu vaccine. Request an appointment through the Patient Portal or call the office at 609-877-6800.

Son Light Medical is OPEN for in-office and virtual televisit appointments.

We are here for you and continue to create opportunities for patients to stay current on immunizations, developmental screenings, and back-to-school physicals.

To ensure everyone’s safety, we ask that you do not come into the office if you are experiencing any form of illness, including fever, cough, and shortness of breath, have recently travelled, or have been exposed to a known or suspected case of COVID-19. Please call first if you are experiencing any form of illness.

We’re taking all necessary precautions to keep our patients and staff as safe as possible, including:

• Sick walk-in hours are cancelled until further notice

• We have stepped up the frequency of disinfecting surfaces throughout the office

• Every team member has their temperature taken at the start of every day and must wear mask/face covering

• Every person entering the office has their temperature taken before they enter, must wear a mask/face covering, and are asked to use hand sanitizer upon entering

• We ask that families wait in their vehicles until called into the office and no individuals may wait in the waiting area

• Only one adult is allowed to accompany the patient into the office

• No sick children are brought into the office while well children are present

• Patients may have to answer a series of screening questions prior to entering office

Son Light Medical is excited to announce that we are now offering Televisits - a more convenient appointment option which allows you to have a visit with your medical provider from the comfort and safety of your home.

This is one of many ways that we can adjust to the rules that are in place to keep us all safe during this unusual time.

We are offering Televisits for sick and well visits. If at any time during the Televisit the provider believes that a face-to-face visit is warranted she will direct you to come to the office.

You may schedule a Televisit on the Healow App, on the Patient Portal, on the Healow website (Healow.com) or by calling the office at 609-877-6800.

Steps to Access Your Televisit
On the Healow App
1. Download Healow App
2. Login - the first time you login you will need our practice code AEFBDA
3. Select Appointments
4. Select Televisit
5. Select START TELEVISIT
6. Enter answers to questionnaire and any known vitals information (this is helpful but not mandatory)
7. Select submit Vitals
8. Select START TELEVISIT - this informs your provider that you are online and ready for your Televisit.
9. Once the provider starts the visit the video will show a self view in the bottom right part of the screen with the provider video in the main part of the screen

On Healow website
1. Go to Healow.com
2. Select Access Health Record (top right of web page)
3. Select Practice code radio button
4. Enter practice code AEFBDA
5. Enter Patient Portal login credentials (username and password
6. Locate Appointment on the Upcoming Appointment (upper right)
7. Select START TELEVISIT
8. Enter answers to questionnaire and any known vitals information (this is helpful but not mandatory)
9. Select submit Vitals
10. Review compatibility check to make sure that everything shows a great check mark - indication that they are functioning as expected
11. Select PROCEED on the bottom right
12. Then select START TELEVISIT - this informs your provider that you are online and ready for your Televisit.
13. Once the provider starts the visit the video will show a self view in the bottom right part of the screen with the provider video in the main part of the screen

COVID-19

This is Dr Cohen from Son Light Medical.

As you know, our country is experiencing an outbreak of corona virus - COVID-19.

As recommended by the CDC to limit the spread of infection, we ask that you do not come into the office if you are experiencing fever, cough and shortness of breath and have recently travelled, or have been exposed to a known or suspected case of COVID-19.

Please know that first and foremost, your health and safety are our top priority and we are taking necessary steps to do our part in reducing the spread of the virus.

With this in mind, we are doing the following:

• Canceling our sick walk-in hours until further notice.

• We have stepped up the frequency of disinfecting surfaces throughout the office

• We are requesting individuals to wash hands upon entering the office and use hand sanitizer on the way out.

• In addition, we are enforcing our policy of restricting afternoon and evening appointments for well patients only.

Sick and well appointments can be scheduled by calling our main number 609-877-6800 or using the patient portal on our website www.sonlightmedical.com to request appointments.
